Children's Hearing Service

About the Service

The Children’s Hearing Service (also known as Paediatric Audiology) offer a comprehensive family friendly service for babies, children and young people living in West Hertfordshire where there is a concern about their hearing or a known hearing difficulty. We are a team of skilled and experienced Paediatric Audiologists, a Consultant in Audiovestibular Medicine and Audiology Assistants.

Important notice during COVID-19

The Children’s Hearing Service has changed the way we are working because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are still accepting new referrals through the normal referral route but we are offering a reduced service at this time and have stopped the majority of routine face-to-face appointments. The department continues to provide essential support to our hearing aid users to ensure their hearing aids remain fully functional.

In order to comply with social distancing, the duration of any face-to-face appointments are being minimised. We may therefore contact you ahead of your appointment to take an up to date medical history or you may be asked to complete a history questionnaire. Some appointments may be offered virtually via ‘Attend Anywhere’.

Information on using ‘Attend Anywhere’ can be found at:

If you have a booked virtual appointment with us, the link to connect with us can be found on:

If you or anyone in your household has symptoms of COVID-19 you must not attend a face-to-face appointment. If you are attending an appointment we ask that you maintain social distancing wherever possible. When the appointment is booked we will advise you of the social distancing arrangements for the clinic site you will be attending. Clinicians will be wearing personal protective equipment, as per recommended guidelines.

If you have any questions or queries, please contact us on the departmental email address:
