UPDATED: RCN strike action 30 April - 1 May

HCT has been identified by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) as one of the organisations where their members will take part in industrial action. Following a High Court ruling today (27 April) RCN members at HCT are expected to participate in strike action from 8pm on Sunday, 30 April until just before midnight Monday, 1 May. (This is a change to the original strike action times which was from 8pm on Sunday 30 April to 8pm on Tuesday 2 May 2023 as originally advised).

The decision to to take strike action follows a new pay offer from the Government for NHS nursing staff in England which RCN members rejected.

Patients are urged to come forward for the care they need and to attend appointments as usual, unless contacted by HCT to reschedule. Any general changes to services will be published on this website, Facebook and Twitter.

HCT recognises the right of our staff to take strike action, while also looking at how we can best support those who are working hard to maintain quality services. Patient safety remains our top priority throughout these challenging times.

Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) - Cheshunt

Our MIU at Cheshunt Comunity Hospital will be open as usual. If RCN strike action impacts on our MIU in Cheshunt patient care will be prioritised in line with our business continuity plans. This means patients will be clinically triaged and assessed based on need and some patients may be advised to alternative services.

Please note: our MIU at Herts and Essex Community Hospital does open on weekends and bankholidays.
