One of the leading figures in the nursing profession visited the trust last week to find out more about the valuable work we're doing to support better outcomes for patients - and took the opportunity to call on members of the public to ensure they got their vaccines ahead of this winter.
Professor Nicola Ranger, General Secretary and Chief Executive of the Royal College of Nursing spent the day hearing from a wide range of staff about the pioneering work our teams are doing to deliver the Government's three key shifts for the NHS — from hospital to community, analogue to digital, and sickness to prevention.

As part of her visit, Nicola saw presentations on our Hospital at Home and urgent community response teams, where she learnt more about how we are supporting neighbourhood and home-based care; our digital teams where a range of digital tools, including shared records, remote monitoring and new tools to support mobile working were showcased; and presentations from our Public Health Nursing service and East of England Community and School-Aged Immunisation Service, where she heard about the work we're doing to support prevention and wellbeing across an individual's life course.
Nicola also stopped by our mobile vaccination van delivering immunisations, including the flu vaccine, for anybody who is eligible. The flu vaccine helps protect against flu, which can be a serious or life-threatening illness. It's offered on the NHS every year in autumn or winter to people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu.
Nicola said: "If you see this van, please get yourself and your family vaccinated. It makes a real difference, particularly going into the winter."
