A set of Hertfordshire-based health visitors and community nursing nurses have returned from a national event with an awards haul.
The Unite-Community Practitioner and Health Visitors Association’s (CPHVA) Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding work in community practice, including health visiting and community nursery nursing.
This year, staff from Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust’s (HCT) public health nursing teams – who cover school nursing, health visiting, school-aged immunisation and child health services – were shortlisted for ten awards and came away from the ceremony on 5 November as winners in four categories:
The following people were also shortlisted for awards: Rachel Watson, Jill Hill and Jeanette Parker were nominated for Health Visitor of the Year; Dionne Mellor was nominated for Advocate of the Year; Susan Bayliss was nominated for Nursery Nurse of the Year, and Doma Hipperson was nominated for Staff Rep of the Year.
Sarah Browne, Chief Nursing Officer said: “I am incredibly proud of our Public Health Nursing teams. That our hardworking staff were shortlisted for ten awards is an achievement on its own; winning four awards is a testament to their dedication and commitment to the communities we work with.
"As shown through the nominations, the teams provide invaluable care and support for families and children from birth to 19 years of age, helping to ensure children have the best start in life and that families can thrive. Well done, everyone, and thank you for everything you do.”
The CPHVA Awards and Conference is currently in its second year; HCT Community Nursery Nurse Emily Vincent won Community Nursery Nurse of the Year at the 2024 awards.
Our Public Health Nursing services work primarily in Hertfordshire but also provide certain services in the wider East Anglia area, providing children community healthcare throughout their childhood at home, in schools, and in clinics.
