Latest performance tables rank us in poll position

Updated NHS performance league tables, published today (11 September 2026), show we are the highest ranked community trust in the country.

The league table, published quarterly as part of the
NHS Oversight Framework, provides a view of how NHS trusts are performing in key areas, including access to services, patient safety, patient experience, People (workforce and culture), and finance. Each trust is placed into one of four segments – with Segment 1 representing those facing fewer challenges, and Segment 4 those with the greatest challenges.

Maintaining our place in Segment 1, we are ranked 1 out of 58 mental health and community trusts in the country. Access to services, people, patient safety and experience of care was ranked in quartile 1 (the highest-scoring 25% of providers), whilst our finance, productivity and innovation, and effectiveness of care was ranked in quartile 2 (second-highest scoring 25% of providers).

Sarah Browne, Chief Nursing Officer at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust, said:

“We are delighted to be ranked 1 out of 58 mental health and community trusts in the country. This is in no small part down to our wonderful staff across the trust. Their continued dedication, focus on patient care, and pioneering approach has allowed us to improve patient experience and access to services, and to ensure our finances are in the best place, enabling us to treat more patients.

“We want all our patients and staff to continue to provide feedback, which we will use to develop our services and improve the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.”
