Early Christmas present for children in Watford facing treatment

Cira and Mary from CCN with Seema and Tesco donations

Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT)’s Children’s Community Nursing team are incredibly thankful to a team at Watford’s Tesco Extra for a recent generous donation of children’s stationery and toys.

The children’s community nursing team, based in Watford, provide healthcare to children with long-term conditions or who need short-term care. This care is provided within the child’s home, as well as community settings such as clinics, schools and nurseries.

Pervina Chinzou, Watford Extra Store Manager said: “We’re proud to support the Children’s Community nursing team and the amazing work they do, and with this donation, we hope to bring a little joy to children as they go through their treatment journey.”

The donations will be gifted to children by the nurses to cheer them up during a treatment or procedure. The donation is the latest in a series from the Tesco store, which has supported the service for a number of years and will be continuing to do so in the lead up to Christmas.

Mary Heffernan, Clinical Quality Lead for Children and Young People’s Nursing, said: “Seema and the team at Tesco Watford have been supporting us for many years. We imagine that the children who will receive these gifts would also like to say a big thank you to them.

“Thanks to Seema and her team at Tesco Extra Watford, local children’s treatment journeys will be made that much more bearable.”

The children’s community nursing team works to mitigate the impact of childhood illness on families by reducing the need for hospital admissions and allowing children to remain at home with their families.

You can help support them and the trust’s other services by donating to the HCT NHS Charity. Find out more about how donations to the charity can help the trust’s staff, patients and visitors.
