Neurodiversity support

Hertfordshire SEND Local Offer Neurodiversity Support page provides information on support, services and activities available for children and their families including:

  • The Toolbox (courses, workshops and apps for children and young people)
  • Links to courses and workshops for parents and carers, and activities for young people
  • Neurodiversity Handbook (written by parents for parents to help them better understand their child or young person).
  • Recorded webinars on neurodiversity, for example, ADD-vance  – managing everyday transitions, understanding autism, understanding anxiety and so on.

Speech, language, communication and autism team

The Speech Language, Communication and Autism Team are a team of qualified teachers and specialists who support children and young people who have needs relating to speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), and/ or communication and autism. For settings only. 

Training is provided without need for a referral.  

Schools can also make a referral for individualised support. Information about how to make a referral is in the link.

The neurodiversity handbook

Hertfordshire County Council and the NHS are delighted to share the ‘Supporting your Neurodivergent Child’ handbook for Hertfordshire parents or carers and professionals.

It contains useful resources, support and signposting regarding neurodiversity. 

Accessible to all regardless of whether the young person has a diagnosis or not.

Online evidence-based, award-winning therapeutic parent courses offered free to parents living in Hertfordshire.

POTENTIAL KIDS is an award-winning charity based in Welwyn/Hatfield which provides learning, social and sports opportunities to neurodivergent children and young people.  

Angels

Angels supports families of autistic children and/or children who have ADHD (and those awaiting diagnosis). All Angels staff are parents of neurodivergent children.
