Staff Wellbeing service

In response to feedback from staff about the challenges of accessing health advice during the working day. The staff and wellbeing service was set up and funded by HCT NHS Charity.

Senior nurses provide 20- minute appointments for teams across the organisation to offer checks for:

  • Blood pressure
  • Weight
  • Cholesterol.

The sessions are accessible, confidential, provide advice and support signposting to other services such as primary care, the Professional Nurse Advocate service and much more.

As a result of attending the clinics, three staff were identified with high blood pressure warranting same day GP appointments. Undiagnosed hypertension is a high-risk factor for staff members.

Feedback from our staff members

“I am very grateful to the wellbeing clinics that have been put on at HCT as it gave me a kick start to do something, I had no idea my blood pressure was so high, the nurse suggested I track my blood pressure for a few days, which was helpful when I saw my GP, I was prescribed blood pressure tablets”.

“I wasn’t aware that I had high cholesterol which was picked up and I was given advice on how to try to bring this down”.
