Double delight as two projects shortlisted for national awards

HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2025: We are proud to make the shortlist!

It has been announced this week that two of our projects - a staff wellbeing service and a ‘trailblazing’ children mental health support team - have been shortlisted as finalists for Health Service Journal (HSJ) Patient Safety Awards.

On Monday (9 June 2025), it was revealed that the our staff wellbeing service has been shortlisted for ‘Staff wellbeing initiative of the year’ category and our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities’ mental health support team (SEND MHST) have been shortlisted for ‘Best use of integrated care and partnership working in patient safety’ award in the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2025.

Our staff wellbeing service regularly runs clinics where staff can access health advice and support, while our SEND MHST is the first MHST in the country to offer early intervention mental health support exclusively to its local SEND population.

Organised by the HSJ, the Patient Safety Awards celebrate the teams and individuals going above and beyond to protect patients from harm, reduce risks, and embed a culture of safety across the UK healthcare sector.

The announcement comes after a rigorous judging process by a panel of esteemed healthcare leaders and patient safety experts.

Chief Executive Elliot Howard-Jones said: “We are delighted that two of our services have been shortlisted for these nationally recognised awards, illustrating the breadth and depth of our commitment to improving patient safety.

“At HCT patient safety is central to how we design and deliver care – particularly in community settings, where supporting people closer to home can make a real difference. These two very different but vital projects highlight our continuous efforts to seek innovative ways to deliver better healthcare.

“Well done to everyone involved in getting to this point. This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff to doing their jobs and putting patients first, in a way that goes above and beyond expectations.”

This year’s awards ceremony will take place on 15 September 2025 at Manchester Central, bringing together hundreds of healthcare professionals from across the country. Winners will be announced during a prestigious evening celebration following the HSJ Patient Safety Congress.
