The NHS in West Herts is keen to hear your views on how hospital services should be provided in future.

Your Care, Your Future - Survey on hospital options for West Hertfordshire

If you access health and care services in West Hertfordshire – including St Albans and Harpenden, Watford and Three Rivers, Hertsmere and Dacorum – we encourage you to complete this survey.

Your Care, Your Future is a programme that has been looking at how we should improve health services in West Hertfordshire. Three key themes have been identified from engagement with patients, public and clinicians:

  • We need to focus more on preventing ill health, such as supporting people to take more exercise, drink less alcohol and give up smoking. We also need to support people who are unwell to look after themselves to prevent illnesses from becoming more serious.
  • We should simplify things for patients who use services from several organisations, such as different NHS Trusts, and ensure care is coordinated and joined up
  • People should be able to get much more care at home or closer to where they live, such as tests and specialist advice in GP surgeries and other community facilities.

Much has already been happening to deliver these changes, including the roll-out of the rapid response service for older people, helping them get care without going into hospital. There is also a new cardiology service that means GPs can order tests directly, which sees these services provided closer to where people live and avoiding the need for patients to wait for a hospital outpatients’ appointment.

We are also looking at our hospital buildings and facilities and where they are located; various options are being considered and examined over the summer and we will assess the costs of different options and consider how affordable they are. We are interested in your views on a number of issues and they will help us consider the best options to propose.

Please note that we need to receive all completed surveys by Wednesday 21st September 2016. Please use the contact details below if you have any questions about the survey.
