Construction work is well underway to transform The Marlowes Centre in Hemel Hempstead into a modern, state-of-the-art building where both NHS mental and physical health services will be provided.
Borras, a construction company based in St Albans, is working on the £6million joint venture between Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust to rejuvenate the building.
The programme will see both adult and children’s physical and mental health services co-located, helping them work closer together for the benefit of service users and patients.
Marion Dunstone, Director of Operations at HCT, added: "We're extremely excited about this project and the opportunities the new centre will provide. We will be working with the construction team over the coming months to ensure disruption to local residents and businesses is kept to a minimum."
Karen Taylor, HPFT's Executive Director, Strategy and Integration, said: "We’re working hard to make sure the building is a great place to work and to receive care. It provides a space for us to develop new ways of providing care and treatment, supporting our service users and patients to look after both their physical and mental health and wellbeing."
The construction work is expected to take up to six months, with services moving into the centre in the New Year.
The following services will be provided in the new building:
