Una is a special care community dentist and is passionate about supporting vulnerable patients. She is the Clinical Director for HCT’s Special Care Dental Service and will continue to focus on ensuring this award-winning service delivers exemplary patient care.
Una is involved in system work tackling inequalities for the learning disability and autistic communities. She has been responsible for implementation of a reasonable adjustment flag at HCT, introduced a sensory room at Cheshunt Hospital and a new sensory garden at Peace Children’s Centre.
Una is widely involved across the region in raising awareness of the importance of oral health. She chairs the NHSE Dental Managed Care Network subgroup for dentistry for the elderly population, and works with colleagues within end-of-life teams to raise awareness of links between poor oral health and aspiration pneumonia. Una is involved in the Hertfordshire Oral Health Alliance, focusing on reducing risk of young children needing dental general anaesthetic. She is setting up the new ICS focusing on Nutrition and Hydration and will support HCT in its development of hospital@home.
Una is passionate about staff wellbeing and is HCT’s lead for Schwartz rounds.
