The selfie campaign proved a success to promote nursing vacancies at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.
In the wake of a successful recruitment campaign, around 50 applicants have applied for nursing posts since the end of December.
To help promote its vacancies, the Trust tapped into the digital world and asked people to take a selfie with its job adverts featured in London tube stations. Each selfie shared on the Trust’s Twitter page @CareersHCT would be in with a chance to win a £30 high street voucher.
Ruth Griffin, Human Resources Business Partner at the Trust, said: “Since launching the selfie campaign, the interest in our nursing vacancies has risen significantly.
“We tried to reach a mass audience in London and hoped the timing of a new year would encourage those thinking of a career change to turn to us.
“We are thrilled to have recruited to 19 nursing posts since the start of the year so far. I believe the constant publicity and selfie campaign has enhanced awareness of the jobs we have available.”
The selfie campaign has now finished and a winner will be announced on Twitter soon.
The Trust has also promoted its nursing vacancies with an advert on the back of Hertfordshire buses. These travelled through Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Stevenage, Ware, Hoddesdon, Bishop’s Stortford, Potters Bar, Welwyn, Hatfield and St Albans.
Alison Ryder, Deputy Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development at the Trust, said: “This has been a very successful campaign to raise the profile of our community nursing vacancies.
“Our overall vacancy rate is one of the lowest compared to other NHS Trusts in Hertfordshire. Although this is good news, there is still work to be done to maximise our ability to recruit.
“We are continually working on a recruitment action plan which incorporates a number of initiatives to enhance our recruitment process.
“In addition we are pleased to be recognised this year, as the top 100 best places to work in the NHS – revealed by the HSJ and Nursing Times, in partnership with NHS Employers.”
The Trust has recently launched adverts for physiotherapists, on the big screen in Welwyn Garden City cinema.
