Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) has appointed Elliot Howard-Jones as its Interim Chief Executive. Elliot’s appointment follows a robust external recruitment process with a very strong field of candidates.
Elliot is currently Director of Performance and Improvement in the NHS England East of England regional team and is widely known across the Hertfordshire and West Essex system.
Elliot’s appointment follows the decision by HCT Chief Executive Clare Hawkins to leave HCT in the Autumn and to focus on a portfolio career with an emphasis on her areas of interest. This will include working with the national Chief Nursing Officer, Ruth May, leadership development and service transformation.
Dr Linda Sheridan, Chair of HCT said: “We are delighted that Elliot is joining the Trust. His experience and knowledge will be valuable as we prepare to work ever more closely with our partner organisations. Elliot is well known in the area and his appointment marks the next phase of our Trust’s journey from Good to Outstanding. I also want to pay tribute to Clare Hawkins who has worked at HCT for nine and a half years in the Trust. During this time, we have benefitted hugely from her leadership and experience. We are very sorry to see her leave and wish her well in her future career.”
Elliot Howard-Jones said: “I am delighted to be joining HCT, where I will be able to bring all of my experience of system working to accelerate the development of community services by working in collaboration with our partners across healthcare, social care and education. Like the rest of the NHS, we are grappling with a range of challenges. My job will be to ensure that all staff are able to use their immense expertise and commitment to provide even better care over the coming years. HCT has strong foundations to build on for this task and I am very grateful for Clare for her work to get the Trust into this really positive position from which to build for the future.”
Elliot will join HCT on 1 November.
