HCT gave an update on the progress of plans to develop a new Health and Wellbeing Centre on the 19th of April. Hertfordshire County Council (HCC), Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group (HVCCG) and Harpenden Town Council were all represented.
The event, hosted by The Harpenden Society, was well attended by over 150 town residents who were given a presentation by Marion Dunstone, HCT Director of Operations Diane Brent, Head of Estates and Russ Charlesworth, Estates Project Manager about the proposals, prior to submission of the planning application. Plans of the new building were displayed as well an overview of the care to be delivered by HCT’s Adult and Children’s Services. HCT staff were also on hand to answer any queries.
The new centre, based in the Stewarts Building on the Harpenden Memorial Hospital site, will fit for purpose in the 21st century. Once planning is approved construction will begin in mid-2019 with plans to open by 2020.
