Dr Elizabeth Kendrick appointed as permanent Medical Director for HCT

HCT is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Elizabeth Kendrick to the permanent Medical Director position at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust, following a national advertisement and statutory appointments process, including a diverse stakeholder engagement and a formal panel interview.

Elizabeth has been Acting Medical Director since March 2019, having previously been appointed to the Deputy Medical Director role. She brings considerable clinical leadership experience and passion to the role, as well as much needed continuity to the corporate leadership of the Trust and across the Hertfordshire and West Essex STP at a time of significant change and transformation.

Elizabeth has been a GP for 15 years and will continue to work clinically as a GP in Buntingford, meeting the needs of adults and children in primary care settings. She also brings hands-on experience of looking after older people in North Hertfordshire where she enjoys working with community healthcare teams to reduce admissions to hospital, facilitate early discharge, and enabling people to stay as independent as possible for as long as possible. She was previously National Professional Advisor for older people to the Care Quality Commission. Prior to this, she was End of Life Lead for the North East and Commissioning Lead for the frail elderly for North Durham Clinical Commissioning Group.

Elizabeth said: "I am delighted to have been appointed to this role and to continue to work with our fantastic team within Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust and our health and social care partners across the system."

Clare Hawkins, Chief Executive of HCT, said: "Everyone in HCT joins me in congratulating Elizabeth on her appointment. She will continue to work with her colleagues across the Trust, as well as the Hertfordshire and West Essex STP. Her contribution will be invaluable in helping to lead our services from good to outstanding."
