Congratulations to HCT’s Linda Rafferty, a Children and Young People's (CYP) Therapy Assistant Practitioner (delivering physio and OT therapy sessions). Linda has been successfully shortlisted for the Advancing Healthcare Award in the category:
"Outstanding achievement by an AHP or healthcare science apprentice, support worker or technician."
Kirstie Simpson, HCT's Quality Improvement Lead said:"It is an excellent achievement to be nominated and shortlisted for this award, sponsored by NHS Employers. We are very proud of how Linda has developed this initiative, make such a worthy difference to children and young people and enabling their voice to be heard. Feedback from staff using this resource demonstrates that it enhances the ability for professionals to build a rapport with patients and service users, understand their emotions, needs and preferences to personalise the care they provide."
Linda delivers physio and occupational therapies in community clinics and the Lakeside Special School in Welwyn Garden City. Linda had this to say about being shortlisted as a finalist: "I am blown away to receive the nomination. Never did I imagine I would be shortlisted. The response that the Ask Me Communication Book has had is just phenomenal. I never anticipated such a response but I am delighted, in particular for the children and young adults who are using it. I am so passionate about their voice being heard and this resource is a fundamental part of the care that we deliver and the support we provide."
We wish Linda lots of luck!
The awards will be presented on 20 March 2020 at a central London venue.
