Community Health superstars recognised across the county, as NHS turns 70.
This year the NHS celebrates its 70th birthday, and so the staff at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust decided they would like to join in the celebrations in their own special way.
HCT staff decided to recognise their most valuable asset – their very own superstar colleagues.
Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust employs over 3,000 staff, providing health care to support the health and wellbeing of the county’s population, at home or close to home in clinics and health centres.
The Trust’s popular #HCTSuperstar campaign has generated a flood of nominations. These ranged from extra helpful healthcare assistants, compassionate physiotherapists, cheery receptionists, dedicated nurses and doctors, and include the ‘back office’ superstars in the corporate teams.
Judging by the smiles on their faces, the winners have been delighted by this special recognition for all their hard work.
HCT Acting Chief Executive Clare Hawkins said: “Our #HCTSuperstar staff award campaign has been a great success, coming at a very special time as we celebrate the 70th birthday of one of the nation’s most loved institutions, the NHS. These awards have helped shine the spotlight on those staff members who consistently go that extra mile.
“HCT staff members have been able to say a very big thank you to their extra special colleagues.
“I am delighted that two of our HCT Superstars will be joining me at a special celebration in Westminster Abbey to celebrate the NHS’s 70th birthday.”
Carly Sparkes (see photo attached) is a Community Nurse, in HCT’s Watford Community and Nursing Therapies’ Team, based at St Alban’s City Hospital. Her colleague nominated her with the following praise: "Everyday Carly goes above and beyond what's asked, and a great deal is asked. She’ll do everything to ensure staff is supported and patients receive the best care possible."
Nikki Stewart (see photo attached) is HCT’s Nutrition and Dietetics Lead and heads up a county-wide team. Together they provide personalised, nutritional advice and support to adults and children with complex medical conditions. She received her award based on the following accolade: “Nikki has worked incredibly hard, working extremely long hours. The whole team has nothing but high praise for her."
