Earlier this year the Trust unveiled its plans to develop a new state of the art health facility at The Stewarts, located in the grounds of Harpenden Memorial Hospital. It will see a major redevelopment of the buildings, providing a range of clinical and therapy rooms for children and adults health services.
Ingleton Wood LLP, an Essex based firm, has been appointed following a competitive tender process. The firm has extensive experience working on both new build and refurbishment projects within the public sector. Previous clients include Southend University Hospital, London Borough of Enfield, South Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Bedford Hospital, Camden Primary Care Trust as well as Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.
Paul Cavalier, Partner at Ingleton Wood said “We are delighted to have been appointed for this exciting project and we are looking forward to working in partnership with Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust on the proposed redevelopment at Harpenden Memorial Hospital.”
The Trust will fund the purchase and redevelopment of The Stewarts through the sale of the rest of the site, including the building locally referred to as the Red House. It is anticipated that building work will start in 2018, with the new facility opening in Spring 2019.
David Law, Chief Executive of HCT, said: “Our communities deserve the best level of twenty-first century healthcare, provided in modern, clean and safe environments. The appointment of Ingleton Wood builds on our pledge to make this a reality for our patients in Harpenden.”
“As a community NHS Trust we are committed to ensuring we support local people, not just when they need health interventions, but to help them stay healthy and lead happy lives regardless of their age”.
