Arrangements for visiting our inpatient units

The national guidance on visiting arrangements for hospital inpatient units was revised on 3 November 2020. In line with this guidance, we are only able to allow visitors to our inpatient wards in specific circumstances, including where a patient is reaching the end of their life. The guidance is subject to review and we will update our own arrangements again if necessary.

We now have iPad tablets on all our inpatient wards to help relatives to stay in touch with loved ones whilst they are in our care. Please call the relevant ward using the numbers below for more information.

To discuss arrangements for keeping in touch with a loved one, please call the relevant hospital ward using the numbers below and ask to speak to the nurse in charge:

  • Herts and Essex Hospital - 01279 827231
  • Danesbury Neurological Rehabilitation Centre - 01438 841866
  • Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital - 01438 841805

To prevent and control the spread of infection, the following requirements are in place for anyone visiting our inpatient wards:

  • Anyone who may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 will not be allowed to visit
  • All visitors will be required to wear a face mask or face covering, gloves and apron (personal protective equipment)
  • Social distancing guidance must be adhered to in all other areas of the hospital
  • All visitors must use hand washing facilities/alcoholic hand gel when entering and leaving the wards
  • All personal protective equipment (PPE) must be disposed of appropriately before leaving the ward
